Cullman's Population

According to the 2000 U.S. Census, the population of the City of Cullman is 13,972 and the population of Cullman County (including the City of Cullman) is 77,483. Cullman's Geographical Location

Cuillman, AlabamaCullman County is centrally located between the cities of Birmingham and Huntsville in Alabama in the the center of the northern half of the State of Alabama on Brindley Mountain. Brindley Mountain is part of the Cumberland Plateau which divides the Tennessee River Watershed to the North from the Warrior River Watershed to the South. Cullman County covers 743 square miles and is 802 feet above sea level.

The City of Cullman is the county seat of Cullman County and is located near the center of Cullman County.

Cullman is centrally located between Birmingham, the iron & coal center of the South, and Huntsville, home of Redstone Arsenal and Huntsville Space & Rocket Center.  Two excellent ports on the Tennessee River - Decatur at 32 miles & Guntersville at 36 miles - are nearby. Cullman's proximity to some other cities are as follows:

Tuscaloosa, AL - 90 miles
Chattanooga, TN - 129 miles
Montgomery, AL - 149 miles
Nashville, TN - 150 miles

Atlanta, GA - 156 miles
Memphis, TN - 239 miles
Mobile, AL - 295 miles

From Cullman, the beautiful Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, the white sand beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama and many other vacation destinations can be reached by automobile in just a few hours! Air service is available through nearby Birmingham and Huntsville International Airports as well as our own Cullman Airport!

 
Cullman's Climate
Cullman has an excellent year-round climate. Our winters are short and mild and our summers are long and warm. Most rainfall occurs in winter and early spring, but afternoon thundershowers are common in summer. Snow sometimes falls in the winter. Our mean annual temperature is around 60º F with a January mean of 34º F and a July mean of 77º F.
