The City of Cullman Sanitation
Department provides residential
and commercial garbage pickup
and residential recycling pickup
for citizens of the City of
Cullman and roll-off service for
the City of Cullman and Cullman
County.
The
Superintendent of the Sanitation
Department is Larry Jones.
Assistant Superintendent is Mary
Guthery.
Office hours are 7:00
a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday. The Sanitation
Department is located in the
Public Works Annex on Brantley
Avenue.
In addition to the garbage,
recycling, dumpster and roll-off
services mentioned above, the
Sanitation Department also
provides:
Leaf and brush collection.
Mowing of
city rights-of-way
Bush-hogging
Litter control
Insect/Mosquito Spraying
Street sweeping
Maintenance of the grounds of
city parks
Maintenance of the grounds
around city buildings.

SANITATION
GUIDELINES
Brush and Limbs:
Should be placed
within 5 (five) feet
of the curb - NOT IN
STREET.
Must be placed away
from cars and
mailboxes and within
easy access of the
boom.
Must be less than 6
(six) feet in
length.
Stumps and
tree parts must
weigh less than 75
(seventy-five)
pounds.
No dirt, rocks, or
concrete will be
picked up.
We are only allowed
to pick-up 3 (three)
cubic yards per
stop.
Nothing can be mixed
with brush and limbs.
Contractors are
responsible for
removal of brush and
limbs they serviced.
Extra Pickup of
items not picked up with
residential garbage such
as appliances, wood,
metal, or any other
rubbish, debris or
garbage:
Call the Sanitation
Department at
256-737-7560, Monday
through Thursday,
between the hours of
7:00 a.m. and 3:00
p.m.
to
schedule pickup.
Pickup is only on
Friday mornings and
must be placed by
curb (NOT IN STREET)
before 6:00 a.m.
Fee charged.
Recycling
Recycle bins are
available - one per
household residence
Not available for
apartment complexes
or commercial
Recycle bins are
picked up weekly and
must
be
at curb by 6:00 a.m.
Dumpsters
available at city
schools to the
public labeled for
recycling.
Glass cannot
be
collected.
Food
&
beverage
aluminum/steel cans
only.
Containers
need to be
rinsed.
Newspapers &
glossy magazines
only.
No
batteries.
Narrow-necked
#1 and #2
plastics
only.
Containers
may be
crushed to
save space.
Wide-necked
plastics, such
as ice cream containers, not
accepted.
Plastics
that have
had engine
oil in them
are not
accepted.
Empty
aerosol cans
only.
Cans
that contain
poison or
paint are
not
accepted.
We cannot
recycle junk
mail, light
bulbs, plate
glass,
mirrors,
ceramics,
scrap metal,
aluminum
foil or
plates,
grocery
bags, or
plastic
wrap.
Garbage
Roll Off
Service:
Available for rent
to public and
commercial.
Commercial:
Available for
placement at
businesses for
monthly rental
Residential:
Residential garbage
is picked up
Monday-Thursday.
Garbage Container
requirements (If
your container is
tagged as not
meeting the
following
requirements you
will have 7 days to
replace container or
we will remove and
destroy it after the
allotted time.)
Be watertight
with tight
fitting lids or
tops (free of
standing water).
32 gallon or
less.
Have two
handles.
Drums or barrels
cannot be used
as garbage
containers.
