ABOUT US |
|
It is the goal of the City of Cullman
Traffic Maintenance Department to ensure the safe, efficient movement of traffic
through the city through the installation, yearly inspection and maintenance of
traffic signals.
In addition to overseeing the traffic signal system
for the City of Cullman this department also
installs, inspects and maintains all traffic signals
throughout Cullman County. Other duties of the
Traffic Maintenance Department include coordination
of traffic studies in response to citizen complaints
and making recommendations for intersections
improvements.
The Superintendent of the Traffic
Maintenance Department is Jeff Adams. There are also
two IMSA certified technicians on staff. Office
hours are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through
Friday. Twenty-four hour emergency service is
available.
The City of Cullman Traffic Maintenance Department
is located at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on
Welti Road.

Malfunctioning or
Damaged Traffic Signals
|
|
It is a potentially
dangerous situation when a traffic signal is
malfunctioning in some way, a traffic signal
bulb is burned out, or a traffic signal is
damaged by high winds or a collision. It is
important for the safety of all our citizens
and visitors of our city that malfunctioning
or damaged traffic signals be reported
immediately.
If
you need to report a malfunctioning or
damaged traffic signal during regular office
hours please call the Traffic Maintenance
Department at (256) 739-8410 or (256)
739-2410 or send a fax to (256) 739-1456.
After regular office hours or on weekends
contact Police Dispatch at (256) 734-1434.
In order to repair the
problem as quickly as possible, it is
helpful if you have at least some of the
following information ready to give when you
call:
1) Name and location of
intersection. 2) What the problem is
with the traffic signal. 3) If a bulb is not
working, which direction is it facing?
(The trucks that we use to repair these
traffic signals are quite large. If we
know which direction the burned out bulb
is facing, we can enter the intersection
from the correct side and, therefore,
have the problem corrected sooner.)
